We have the greatest volunteers. They have worked tirlessly to serve all the ministries in the sound, lighting, and video relms of the church.

This year, we will be making a big push to train our volunteers. This may sound like a no brainer, but, they have pretty much been on their own for the last two years.

We will be aproaching this in two ways:

1. We will make training manuals for each venue, available both at the sound booth and on line.

2. We will make training videos for each venue that every volunteer must watch before operating the venues.

I would appreciate your input on this. Let me know what has worked for you and your church.

In an effort to cut down on stage volume, we have been using In-Ear-Monitors for our band for the last year.

Two weeks ago, one of our two worship leaders started using them. He had some trouble with them. Some were his fault, like forgeting to turn the wireless pack on. Some were getting the balance of stage and audience microphones right. The benefits of this worship leader using in-ears is that, because he can hear himself upclose-and-personal, he actually has started singing softer and more in key.

This weekend our BG vocalist began using the in-ears. Rehearsal and the first service were very rough.

Hearing themselves (really for the first time) made them aprrihensive and tentitive.

The last three services were better, as they gained confidence in both the words and the in-ear arrangeme.

My on stage monitor mixer, did an exemplary job both mixing and putting the singers at ease.

I anticipate that as the weeks go on that things will smoth out.

I have been assured by the worship pastor that the vocalist will be the next focus of major work.

We will also be teaching classes on microphone etiquite and use.
